Talk:Curator Douglas Fogle teams up with Carnegie International artist Barry McGee for a conversation about his work, his influences, and how he responds to the phrase 'Life on Mars.'"From his beginnings in graffiti culture in the 1980s to his emergenceas a gallery artist, McGee (known as Twist in graffiti circles) hascreated art that reflects an anti-authoritarian, non-institutional point of view. Using bold colors and dynamic geometric shapes, his installations have the chaotic energy of the urban experience, bringing a subversive street aesthetic into the space of the museum. For Life on Mars, McGee has transformed an ordinary hallway with his mixed-media installation."

WHAT ARE THEY SAYING ABOUT JAPANTHER?:"Spazz gods… Japanther is a lean slam boogie machine with no time for boredom"-- Thurston Moore for Arthur Magazine"It's not like they haven't the feigned art-world legitimacy of the"experimental" tag—they once composed a live puppet opera that endedup as the basis of a video piece in last year's Whitney Biennial —but they also have a sense of humor."-- The Village Voice
