The
City of Pittsburgh has launched the Market Square Public Art Program,
which will locate temporary works of art in Downtown Pittsburgh-s
central public plaza during February - April 2014, 2015, and 2016. The
City is working in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Downtown
Partnership and the Office of Public Art to manage the artist selection
process and implement the program.
The Market Square Public Art
Program will commission artists to exhibit existing works of public art
or commission artists to create new works of public art. Artists or
teams of artists are invited to submit qualifications for new works of
art or proposals to site existing works of art. There is a range of
possible project budgets. The budget for newly commissioned artworks is
$50,000 - $75,000. The budget to install existing artworks is $10,000 -
$50,000.
The selection process will select artists for all three years of the program.
