Tim Kerr is a hugely influential guitarist, songwriter and founding member of ten punk rock / garage rock bands since 1978, including The Big Boys, Poison 13, The Monkeywrench, Jack O' Fire and most recently, The Total Sound Group Direct
Action Commitee. He is highly regarded by many of his better known contemporaries such as Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat, Fugazi), Glenn Danzig (Misfits, Samhain, Danzig), Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) and Henry Rollins (Black Flag, Rollins Band). Tim has also produced over 150 records, including The Cynics' "Living Is The Best Revenge".
While Tim has contributed artwork to many of his musical projects, he has made a name for himself in the past decade as a painter. His paintings focus on the musical, social and political figures that have inspired him to forge his own
path in his life and art, including John Coltrane, Rosa Parks, Jack Johnson, Tommie Smith, Leonard Peltier, Sun Ra, Jim Thorpe, Muhammad Ali, John Fahey,
Rassan Roland Kirk, Bo Diddley, and Eldridge Cleaver. Tim typicallly uses cardboard as his canvas or creates murals on interior and exterior walls.
The opening will be at the Zombo Gallery in Lawrenceville. Music will be provided by Vernacular (a free jazz group from Cleveland, OH featuring members of the group This Moment In Black History) and an old time/Irish jam with Tim Kerr and the members of Devilish Mary.
