PITTSBURGH, PA, June 20, 2011…. I Made It! Market, the city’s nomadic indie craft marketplace brings a number of unique events to Pittsburgh this month. By popping up in a number of locations featuring both new and returning local artists, I Made It! Market brings unique and handcrafted directly to shoppers offering the opportunity to connect directly with the makers.

The I Made It! Market creates events with a two-fold mission in mind. Our goal is to provide the opportunity for regional craftspeople to establish small businesses AND to raise funds and awareness for non-profit, arts and community groups.

Visitors to the I Made It! Market will find a variety of handcrafted goods including natural bath and body products, greeting cards, clothing, costumes, letterpress artwork, photography, house wares, woodworked toys and furniture, hand knits, jewelry, ceramics, handbags, children’s items and so much more. Descriptions of participating artists can be found leading up to the event on the I Made It! Market website: www.imadeitmarket.com.

Catch our first event of July in Mount Washington’s business district on Independence Day. A variety of local emerging and established artists will line Shiloh Street offering a taste of Pittsburgh’s talent to spectators enjoying the view of our city and awaiting fireworks. Find our artists along Shiloh Street on July 4th from 1 – 7 pm.

Then, join us July 15th – 17th for a large outdoor bazaar featuring more than 60 regional handmade artists along 27th Street in the South Side as a part of the SouthSide Works Exposed. This event draws incredibly creative talents from Allegheny and surrounding counties. We’ll be open: Friday, July 15th, 5 – 10 pm, Saturday, July 16th, 12 – 10 pm, Sunday, July 17th, 12 – 5 pm.

Starting on Sunday, June 26th, I Made It! Market artists will join Bakery Square’s Sunday Marketplace. Our artists will join farmer’s market vendors and local non-profit organizations to create a vibrant outdoor marketplace one Sunday a month at Bakery Square from 12 – 4 pm. Learn which artists are attending each month on our website.

I Made It! Market is pleased to meet and greet baseball fans as a part of ART NIGHT with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday, July 22nd. Learn about the services we offer and meet some of our artists. We will have a big crafty give-away and more.

The Pittsburgh Art Blog

The Pittsburgh Art Blog features selected pittsburgh artists and upcoming exhibits with photos from the artists and galleries. since the major press outlets do not go beyond a directory listing of exhibits, blogs are needed to promote pittsburgh artists and their work. the blog also calls attention to the inferiority complex of pittsburgh art and how it's perpetuated by the major players in town. Started on August 20,2007. pittsburgh area galleries and art venues are listed at the sister site www.PghGalleries.com.

the blog and website are volunteer projects from fine art photographer and pittsburgh artist advocate rick byerly.
