Peter Max:
The latest retrospective features over 140 pieces of unique Peter Max artwork, including original paintings and drawings. The subject matter of the work ranges from the well known "Cosmic" images, to his famous iconic paintings, such as the “Statue of Liberty,” and "Flag with Heart" and the latest edition, the newly unveiled portrait of President Obama.
Max has painted an installation of 44 portraits of President Barack Obama to commemorate our new 44th President. Max was deeply inspired by this historical election, as well as for the renewed hope and enthusiasm that Obama has generated amongst hundreds of millions of people in America and around the world. Single portraits of Obama will be featured in the exhibit.
With paintings on exhibition in hundreds of museums and galleries worldwide, Peter Max and his vibrant colors have become a part of the fabric of contemporary culture. Often incorporating iconic symbols of America into his work, Max has painted for seven U.S. presidents, created the official artwork and poster for the Clinton Inauguration, his "Flag With Heart" impressionistic paintings of the American flag are in permanent installations in the Carter, Reagan and Bush presidential libraries in addition to his statue of Liberty paintings, which have become an annual painting tradition since America's Bicentennial, in 1976 and led to Max playing a lead role in the renovation of the Statue of Liberty. For more info on the paintings please visit http://www.petermax.com/. ***300 DPI ARTWORK AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST***

Sprout Hothouse 2010 Info here.

The Sprout Fund’s 7th annual Hothouse summer benefit will be held on Saturday, August 29th, 2009 at Walnut Capital’s new Bakery Square development on Penn Avenue in Pittsburgh's East End.

A record crowd of more than 2,400 made last year’s event the party of the summer and #2 in the "10 Best Parties of 2008," according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Check back throughout the summer for updates on Hothouse. Ticket sales and volunteer signups will begin in July.

ABOUT HOTHOUSE

Hothouse is The Sprout Fund’s annual benefit and showcase event. The event serves as a stage to present a sampling of some of the innovative projects and emerging leaders of successful community initiatives supported by Sprout over the past year. Held annually at unique development sites, the event celebrates the organization’s accomplishments and features live music and performances, food and drink by Pittsburgh favorites, a silent auction, and a VIP reception.

As The Sprout Fund’s “live annual report” to the community, the event creates an incredible opportunity for the wide cross-section of Pittsburgh’s business and social circles that come together each year in support of Sprout’s mission to meet and mingle.

Support for the event has been strong every year; last year 36 financial sponsors, 4 media sponsors, 24 in-kind supporters, 32 food & drink sponsors, and 57 silent auction donors joined hundreds of friends of the organization to raise more than $130,000 for The Sprout Fund.

Happy Spring!

Artist Shawn Farester has worked with the gallery since its inception. He even helped us move into the firehouse on Arch Street. He created the bar design for our serving area and collaborated on a custom gallery design for the great space! Now, he brings his large scale abstract sculpture to you for his first solo exhibit with moxie DaDA! While studying and preparing for this exhibit has taken several years, the work itself has mostly been produced within 2009. Some earlier series and pieces may also be available for reflection on process and progress. In "END of DAYS", Shawn attempts to capture your imagination and catch your eye while he communicates what cannot be heard.

We invite you to the public reception on Saturday, May 8, 2009 from 6-9 PM. The exhibit runs through May 30.

His work emanates strength, but challenges the viewer to question themselves. The welded and manipulated metal exhibits a majestic, while fierce, form which is testimony to the many qualities of metal that are incorporated. His work is inspired by nature and a reflection of his personality and also his interest in medieval times.
