Media Arts Program Unveils New Classroom and Studio Space
Moon Township, Pa. – The Robert Morris University (RMU) Gallery will hold its grand opening reception to kick off the annual Media Arts Faculty Exhibition on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. The gallery is located in the RMU building at 600 Fifth Ave. in downtown Pittsburgh.
The reception will feature tours of the Media Arts program’s new classroom and studio space, which occupies 12,000 square feet on the third floor of the Pittsburgh building. That building is in the midst of a $10 million renovation project, which also included the creation of the gallery on the first floor. The gallery held its first exhibition in March.
“These beautiful and superbly equipped facilities are rich with cutting-edge technology and will add significant support for our mission to place RMU graduates in the very best graphic design, Web design, photography and TV/video production careers, regionally and nationally," said Tim Hadfield, head of the Department of Media Arts at RMU.
The third floor renovations were completed over the summer. Approximately 190 undergraduate students are enrolled in the Media Arts program, which has 24 faculty members.
The Faculty Exhibition runs through October 31, and it is free and open to the public. Normal gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
