The Pittsburgh Galleries blog has reached a new high as far as traffic and new visitors! Over the last month it had 3,184 unique visits which included 5,689 page views! And those statistics actually involve real human beings (websites are hit a ton by bots which inflate numbers and website hosts stats are unreliable). Not bad for a blog which was started in August of 2007 and has built traffic mostly via people using google and other search engines. A few weeks ago a reporter from Forbes Magazine called me asking about Pittsburgh art galleries for a story and she found me via this blog which is pretty cool. Also the NCECA Ceramics Convention which came to Pittsburgh in March with over 4,500 visitors brought 1,179 people to this blog for the extensive guides and listings I put online. The goal now is to get people to spread the word and bookmark the blog to keep updated on all the Pittsburgh art events happening. If you know of an art event not listed just shoot me an email, rick@uniquetake.com , with all the info including the full address of venue and an image which will attract more attention.
This is a volunteer effort so donations of any size are welcome which can be made via paypal here . Also at that link anyone interested in purchasing banner space, which includes placement on this blog and websites, can sign up there. Banner design included. I have a google ad on the blog as well as ads on the supplementary website, http://www.pghgalleries.com/ , which lists all Pittsburgh area art galleries and venues. That site gets around 1,400 visits a month. The ads haven't brought in any money because there is a $100 threshhold which I may never get to, we'll see. Thank you to those who have recognized the work I'm putting in and those who have placed links for the blog on their websites and blogs.
