The Pittsburgh Art Blog
The Pittsburgh Art Blog features selected pittsburgh artists and upcoming exhibits with photos from the artists and galleries. since the major press outlets do not go beyond a directory listing of exhibits, blogs are needed to promote pittsburgh artists and their work. the blog also calls attention to the inferiority complex of pittsburgh art and how it's perpetuated by the major players in town. Started on August 20, 2007.pittsburgh area galleries and art venues are listed at the sister site www.PghGalleries.com.the blog and website are volunteer projects from fine art photographer and pittsburgh art advocate rick byerly, www.RickByerly.com.

Pittsburgh Art Events Friday, Saturday September 4, 5 2009
Holy shiatt there's a lot of Pittsburgh art events going on this weekend! Be sure to check out Bittersweet Harvest for a comprehensive line-up (right hand side for the schedule and each posting). On Friday I'll be checking out Unblurred on Penn Ave (including the newer fast fwd gallery at 3700 penn av, 5020 penn av, modernformations, most wanted and imagebox among others). A Friday after crawl party will be at Remedy (5121 Penn Ave Larryville) on the 2nd floor starting at 10pm where Casey Hallas is the organizer for the Incredible Hipster Machie gig (tip them well, no cover). More info at the fbook link here. Saturday will be Panza Gallery and Zombo (if not Friday or Sunday).
Would like to check Unsmoke in Braddock on Friday but not sure I'll make it.
Remember my Pittsburgh Galleries website directory is www.pghgalleries.com if you're looking for addresses of various art venues.

Pittsburgh Galleries Blog Goes On Hiatus
This blog will no longer be a comprehensive listing of Pittsburgh art events but the good news is that there's a new blog which is doing a great job of covering the scene: Bittersweet Harvest. To have an event listed there email the info to bsharvest(AT)hotmail.com. The url is http://bittersweetharvest.blogspot.com/ .
I'm not sure what this blog will become. Perhaps in the fall it will re-emerge.

November 11 – December 6, 2008 Seeking the Blue Bird of Happiness
Fresco, Epoxy, Cast Resin and Reverse Paintings by Iramly
Grand-daughter of the famous German Expressionist painter Hans Grohs, Irmaly’s style is inspired by her European background and experience through studies in the Paris American Art Academy, Danish Fold Art, as well as French and German Expressionism. She has worked with numerous renowned artists and developed her own unique style of art.
With hand framed paintings, worked in oil, acrylic, or reverse 3D effects, paint on layers of resin or in a resin casting from foam mold creating low relief, plexi frames with epoxy clay, or low relief glass, sealed in resin, come and discover why the adjective “creative” does not begin to describe Irmaly!
JOIN US! Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 5 pm – 8 pm
Public reception: Free and open to the public.
