ARTISTS USING UNEXPECTED MEDIA COMBINATIONS
FEATURED at LUKE & ELOY GALLERY’S “DOUBLE VISION”

February 9, 2009, Pittsburgh, PA – 13 Artists who express themselves in differing art and craft forms, sometimes combined in one work, are featured in Luke & Eloy Gallery’s new exhibit “Double Vision.” Artists Dan Buchanan, Susan Constanse, Kat Cole, John Dorinsky, Lindsay Huff, Ji-Hye Kim, Lilianne Milgrom, Shannon Rankin, Ben Roosevelt, Damia Smith, Amanda Stark, Paula Sweet, and James Thurman are represented in the exhibit that runs from March 7 to April 18, 2009. Luke & Eloy Gallery is located at 5169 Butler Street in Lawrenceville. Opening Reception is Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 11am to 3pm. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 11am to 2pm, Saturdays 11am to 5pm. For more information visit www.lukeandeloy.ning.com or call 412-784-1919.
Gallery Director Brigitte Martin’s goal was to present 2 or more works that show the unusual media combinations being used by each artist. The featured artists work in disparate media combinations such as porcelain and video, embroidery and drawing, sound and sculpture, ink and raku pottery, metal and glass, and aluminum and paper.
Pittsburgh artist Dan Buchanan, a CMU fine arts graduate who also has a culinary background, presents his full-sized sugar-cast machine guns in a work entitled “Arsenal.” Artist Ji-Hye Kim presents wearable art combining traditional Korean painting and acrylic. Amanda Stark’s mysterious sculptures of hand-blown glass, wire and other media seem to be contraptions from a 19th century science lab. Art Jeweler James Thurman presents both a “reclaimed handgun” sculpture and a necklace of pearls combined with a woman’s shoe and a selection of high heels.
Luke & Eloy Gallery features regular exhibits of fine art and craft, including painting, sculpture, and other media. Specializing in fine art jewelry, Luke & Eloy presents work by noted designers of art jewelry, including Gallery Director Brigitte Martin who is a goldsmith and fine art jeweler.
