Piano, at Trinity Gallery from Saturday, March 19 through Saturday, April 30, 2011. Piano will showcase a collection of works by local artist Marissa Gallagher. The Opening Exhibition and Soiree will be held on March 19, 2011 from 7-9:30pm at Trinity Gallery, 4747 Hatfield St, Lawrenceville.

The following is a brief artist statement regarding Piano.

Artist’s Statement

Anything simple always strikes personal interest. Therefore, my work revolves around the idea that simplicity in itself brings about complex notions. The juxtaposition of both ideas internally ignites fire of creativity.

With inspirations stemming from Picasso to modern graffiti artists along with the use of monotone colors, simple lines, and recycled materials, my visually basic artwork begins to speak to a complex audience.

In addition, I believe very strongly in maintaining an eco-conscious living. Therefore, all pieces are composed using recycled materials and refurbished framing.

The Pittsburgh Art Blog

The Pittsburgh Art Blog features selected pittsburgh artists and upcoming exhibits with photos from the artists and galleries. since the major press outlets do not go beyond a directory listing of exhibits, blogs are needed to promote pittsburgh artists and their work. the blog also calls attention to the inferiority complex of pittsburgh art and how it's perpetuated by the major players in town. Started on August 20,2007. pittsburgh area galleries and art venues are listed at the sister site www.PghGalleries.com.

the blog and website are volunteer projects from fine art photographer and pittsburgh artist advocate rick byerly.
