Calling All Pittsburgh Filmmakers to Celebrate the Big 250

Calling All Pittsburgh Filmmakers to Celebrate the Big 250

Pittsburgh Neighborhood Narratives will be a series of short fictional narrative films by local filmmakers, each portraying the experience of one of the diverse neighborhoods of Pittsburgh.

Local filmmakers Andrew Halasz and Kristen Lauth Shaeffer are currently looking for filmmakers to participate in the project, first by submitting a treatment by January 1, 2008. Filmmakers whose stories speak most strongly to the personality of their community will then be engaged to write a script and begin production for their short film.

The completed shorts will be compiled for screenings throughout the city next fall, as a way to celebrate Pittsburgh’s 250th year in 2008.

New Giftware Collections Handcrafted by Pittsburgh Artisans

Now Available Year 'Round at The Great Frame Up of Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, Pa Dec 5, 2007 -- Just in time for the holidays, The Great Frame Up in Shadyside has added new gift collections by local artists. These unique finds at this eclectic frame shop & art gallery will now be offered year 'round. Visit them in the Shadyside Village Shopping Center, located at S. Aiken & Walnut, where you’ll be dazzled by a broad array of colorful and interesting merchandise. Word is spreading around town as the featured artists draw in their loyal clients as well. The owners are always interested in meeting accomplished local artists who would like to consider having their merchandise displayed in the storefront - as an outreach to the community at large, and as a support system for the creators to house their work in a beautiful retail store with an accent on art.

Sewickley photographer Cathy Kelly displays a stunning collection of nature photographs, including extreme close-ups of flowers, fall leaves, snow scenes and butterflies. You can buy ready-to-frame prints of these remarkable images, as well as note cards & thank you notes, and her unique ceramic tiles. Carole Brecht, one of the frame shop owners says, “If you see them, you will be captivated by them.”

Perfect for holiday gift giving are large and small, beautiful hand knit scarves in a variety of yarns, and exquisitely crafted gem-stone and Swarovski crystal jewelry pieces, including those by Melinda Neid. Preview many of the colors and styles offered on The Great Frame Up’s website: http://www.pittsburgh.thegreatframeup.com/ .

The new gift collection has something for the Pittsburgh-lover, too. Choose from several one-of-a-kind framed Steeler keepsakes, or browse the pen-and-ink drawings of Pittsburgh city scenes to pair with just the right frame from The Great Frame Up’s vast collection of custom samples or pretty ready-mades. You’ll also find cypress Santas, unusual photographs by Rick Byerly, hand-sewn baby blankets, bibs and toys, and hand dipped chocolates beautifully wrapped. “It’s so exciting to see this much talent and creativity in our community,” Brecht says. “These artists inspire all of us, and it is fun to collaborate with them. I know our clients will enjoy it as well.” Next time you need a unique, one-of-a-kind gift for a friend, relative or neighbor, created by a local artisan, think The Great Frame Up of Pittsburgh, in Shadyside Village at the corner of S Aiken @ Walnut. 412.682.4443 * http://www.pittsburgh.thegreatframeup.com/ * pittsburgh@thegreatframeup.com
