Merrick Art Gallery added to


The Pittsburgh Galleries blog is a volunteer effort from Rick Byerly to promote Pittsburgh art events which feature artists from the area. The website effort is an up-to-date directory with Pittsburgh area art venues. Thanks go to Sirani Gallery of 5875 Forbes Ave in Squirrel Hill for being a sponsor and David L. The Merrick is home to a collection of French, German, English, and American paintings from the 18th and 19th Century. The collection features examples of romantic, realistic, and impressionistic art by prominent American and European artists, including Prud'hon, Courbet, Winterhalter, Sully, and Curran. Most prominent is a collection of Hudson River School paintings featuring the works of Durand, Moran, Kensett, Casilear, and Trost Richards.
