The Academy of the South Side Pittsburgh Art Classes Summer 2010

We are pleased to announce the schedule for our upcoming classes, beginning
*August 3rd*! We will be offering 3 classes and a handful of other painting
opportunities, so we're hoping to have something for everyone. We will be
bringing back our popular *Intro to Oil* and *Portrait Painting* classes, as
well as introducing an exciting new class in *Tattooed Portraiture*! The
full schedule is below, and all details, including registration, can be
found on our website at *www.academyofthesouthside.com*.

In addition to our 3 classes, we will also be holding a day-long *landscape
painting* opportunity on *July 17th* out at our dear friend Judy Wojanis'
beautiful farm in Clinton, PA to gear up for the classes. We'll be out
there from 10AM to 7PM, and all are welcome to join for part or all of the
day. This day will be *free *and participants should plan to provide their
own ride and gear. If anyone wishes to come but can't get out there or
doesn't have an easel, please let us know and we'll make accommodations. We
will send out detailed directions next week, and also post them to our
website.

Finally, we are going to be offering an intensive *Weekend of Figure
Painting* workshop the following weekend, *July 24-25th*, at our studio on
Pius St. in the South Side Slopes. The sessions will run all day Saturday
and Sunday, from 10AM to 5PM, with a break for lunch. Each day will be
broken up into 2 three-hour sessions (10AM-1PM and 2-5PM), and can be taken
individually or all together. Each session will cost $25, and you receive
one class for free if you take the full weekend, which will cost $75 for the
full 4 sessions.

We would like to encourage everyone to please send in your payment and
registration prior to the start of class. As always, we aim to work with
and accommodate everyone and can be flexible with payments (hey, we're
artists too!), but we want to be fair to all students so that we know before
the start of classes if we have sufficient attendance to hold a particular
class.

Thanks to everyone for your support and for the great times we've had at the
Communion parties. We're really looking forward to this round of activity
and hope to see many of you in the studio or out at the farm in the coming
months.

The Pittsburgh Art Blog features selected pittsburgh artists and upcoming exhibits with photos from the artists and galleries. since the major press outlets do not go beyond a directory listing of exhibits, blogs are needed to promote pittsburgh artists and their work. the blog also calls attention to the inferiority complex of pittsburgh art and how it's perpetuated by the major players in town.
