Pittsburgh Glass Center's 10 Year Anniversary

Pop City covers the Pittsburgh Glass Center on it's 10 year anniversary.

Today, the identity of Pittsburgh glass has shifted substantially. No longer does it rest in the callused, overworked, and often underage hands of industrial laborers, but in the nimble fingers of artists, educators, and curious students. And with the factories all but gone from the region, today's glass workers practice their art in a bright, open, LEED certified building situated as a cornerstone of an emerging arts district. It is exactly this building and its resources, programs, and community that keeps the history of Pittsburgh glass not only alive and well but also moving from purely industrial to surprisingly creative.

The Pittsburgh Art Blog

The Pittsburgh Art Blog features selected pittsburgh artists and upcoming exhibits with photos from the artists and galleries. since the major press outlets do not go beyond a directory listing of exhibits, blogs are needed to promote pittsburgh artists and their work. the blog also calls attention to the inferiority complex of pittsburgh art and how it's perpetuated by the major players in town. Started on August 20, 2007.pittsburgh area galleries and art venues are listed at the sister site blog and website are volunteer projects from fine art photographer and pittsburgh art advocate rick byerly,
