Pittsburgh Art Blog: 4 Years. Now What?

After 4 years of promoting Pittsburgh art events on a volunteer basis I'm considering what direction to take (if any) with the blog. The majority of the hits still come from search engine related traffic (as opposed to direct vistits/referring links) and after 4 years I'm wondering if it's worth the effort. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The Pittsburgh Art Blog

The Pittsburgh Art Blog features selected pittsburgh artists and upcoming exhibits with photos from the artists and galleries. since the major press outlets do not go beyond a directory listing of exhibits, blogs are needed to promote pittsburgh artists and their work. the blog also calls attention to the inferiority complex of pittsburgh art and how it's perpetuated by the major players in town. Started on August 20,2007. pittsburgh area galleries and art venues are listed at the sister site www.PghGalleries.com.

the blog and website are volunteer projects from fine art photographer and pittsburgh artist advocate rick byerly.

  1. As a disabled artist who can't get out much, I pretty much depend on this blog in order to keep in touch with what's going on in my local arts community.

Whether or not you decide to continue, thank you for everything you've done.

  4. I also find this an excellent resource. Just recently I found out about the POP UP Pittsburgh project and just today attended their informational meeting. The blog is working. I do appreciate very much your hard work here, Rick. Just thought you'd like to know!

  5. I really appreciate the work Rick - I always use your site to keep up with events around town, I don't think I'd ever be able to keep up without a central repository. However, I understand that it's selfish of me to ask you to do the work so that I don't have do, so if you decided you didn't want to continue, I think we'd all understand and still be extremely grateful for the work you've done.

If you think the workload is too much, maybe you should consider teaming up to incorporate your content into one of the many online pittsburgh magazines that seem to be popping up - in exchange for them pulling some of the weight
