Expressions of light, color and space are explored by Mentzer in a wide variety of media, at a small scale, through a range of subjects including architecture and objects found and imagined in varied environments. The irony is that Freeman’s disturbing ambitions are curbed, not only by the local establishment, but also by his own family and friends.
