"Ink and Paint"
ToonSeum Show and Sell

"Ink and Paint," the first-ever partnership between the ToonSeum and Zombo Gallery, is about to leave an indelible mark on Pittsburgh.
A variety of traditional ink cartoons as well as less traditional paintings by national and local cartoonists will be on view beginning Nov. 14 through Dec. 6, 2008 at Zombo Gallery in Lawrenceville. The public is invited to a free opening reception from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14.
"Ink and Paint" offers holiday gift buyers and art connoisseurs the opportunity to purchase something especially unique and collectible. Original art, limited edition prints and other one-of-a-kind creations will be available for purchase.

The show will feature art by Mike Peters ("Mother Goose and Grimm"), Terri Liebenson ("Pajama Diaries"), Rob Rogers (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette), Wayno, Joe Wos, Lee Moder ("Painkiller Jane" and "Wonder Woman"),Tom Richmond (Mad Magazine), and many more.
“Zombo Gallery is the home for cartoon low-brow pop art,” says Zombo Gallery owner, Michael Devine. “Since our inception, we found that this kind of art has been neglected and needs to be brought to the local art community. Lawrenceville is the perfect spot for us. Most of the people here grew up on comics and cartoons and still have a large place in their hearts for it."
Proceeds will benefit the ToonSeum, Pittsburgh’s first museum dedicated to the cartoon arts. The ToonSeum celebrated its first birthday in October 2008. In its first year, the museum presented groundbreaking exhibitions such as "Drawn to the Hive: Cartooning Pittsburgh’s Mayors," "Wee Pals: The Works of Morrie Turner" and "Just Kidding Around: Children in Cartoons and Comics."
