The Pittsburgh Galleries blog is a volunteer effort from Rick Byerly to promote Pittsburgh art events which feature artists from the area. The PghGalleries.com website effort is an up-to-date directory with Pittsburgh area art venues. Thanks go to Sirani Gallery of 5875 Forbes Ave in Squirrel Hill for being a sponsor and David L. Edwards Art and Anonymous for their donations to this effort. Donation and sponsor info can be found here. Rick Byerly, Uniquetake Photography

I'm hoping to keep up the volunteer effort here and could use some help. Passing the word on to anyone in the Pittsburgh region who has even a remote interest in visual art and asking them to bookmark or subscribe the blog would be a huge help. There are a ton of art events going on in the area and the blog is an attempt to get the word out on "quality" art events.
Most of the traffic to this blog is a result of search engine tagging (accounts for 8,000 of the 10,000 monthly hits right now) and in order for me to take this to the next level I'm looking for return visits. Also I need your input on whether to continue the Pittsburgh art articles summary for the month, eg November is here, as well as the monthly art event guide, November 2008 is here.
If you have a blog or website linking the blog and website would be great. Yours may even be linked on my blog already, if not then shoot me an email. Donations, advertising, and sponsor info is here.
Thanks, I appreciate your help.
Like what's posted on this blog and the website http://www.pghgalleries.com/ ? This is a volunteer effort so donations of any size are welcome which can be made via paypal here . Also at that link anyone interested in purchasing banner space, which includes placement on this blog and the PghGalleries.com website, can sign up there. Thanks! Rick Byerly

I find your blog useful for the event postings, not so much the monthly summary or event guide. I do find all the advertising at the top of every blog entry annoying. People who read your blog in an RSS reader have to look at the same images and blog description at the top of every post. This is an annoyance, and I have never read another blog that does this. I don't see how you can expect to make a significant amount of money through advertising on a blog of this size anyway. It's a great service you're providing, though!
ReplyDeletethanks for posting.
ReplyDeletethe blog takes a lot of time as it stands so just looking to get some donations, not to make a lot of money off if it. i can see how the images at the top could be annoying but to be honest i need any help i can get getting exposure for my photography and to recognize sponsors and donators of the blog.

p.s.
ReplyDeleteand thanks for the input on the monthly summaries- i did that because of the sheer number of posts for each month and figured it would help people get info more efficiently. based on the viewer stats the majority of people do not read each blog post currently.
i would be curious to know how others felt about that.
thanks
