An exploration of how the forces of cold, ice and snow shape landscapes
and cultural identities in Canada and the northern tier of the United States

CALLING ALL ARTISTS

Take this opportunity to show your work as part of an educational exhibition
featuring a selection of pre-1940 American landscape paintings and scenic
American stereoscopic photographs. All styles of painting and drawing will
be considered in the selection process, and a broad interpretation of the
theme is encouraged. Don’t miss this opportunity. Apply today!

IMPORTANT DATES: Entry Deadline - 6/28/2010. Announcement of accepted entries - 7/19 - 7/23/2010
Receipt of framed artwork, ready to install - 10/25 - 29/2010. No work accepted before 10/25

The Penelec-Bowman-Megahan Art Galleries of Allegheny College present exhibitions and other visual arts programming for diverse audiences including students, educators, emerging and established artists, and other residents of northwestern Pennsylvania. Sponsored by the College's Art Department, gallery programs are designed to promote active learning and interdisciplinary exploration of the visual arts and culture.

pittsburgh galleries is reborn anew as The Pittsburgh Art Blog. the blog features selected pittsburgh artists and upcoming exhibits with photos from the artists and galleries. since the major press outlets do not go beyond a directory listing of exhibits, blogs are needed to promote pittsburgh artists and their work. the blog also calls attention to the inferiority complex of pittsburgh art and how it's perpetuated by the major players in town.
