GRANADA ARTS EDUCATION PROJECT

Benefit 2010 CALL for ARTISTS

poster show and art exhibition to BENEFIT:

The Granada Arts Education Project, based in Pittsburgh, Pa. and Granada, Nicaragua, is a new artist-driven collaborative. Our goal is to help students learn about their world and abroad through artistic expression and exchange of art between schools in different countries. We work with teachers to help strengthen their teaching skills and diversify their curriculum, despite limited resources, by including arts activities.

In June 2010, we will hold our third annual benefit event at AVA Bar & Lounge. The event will include music, raffles, a silent auction, and an art exhibition reception. We are seeking artists to produce posters to exhibit and sell, with proceeds benefiting the Granada Arts Education Project.

Selection: All work submitted will be accepted and very much appreciated.

We have funds and space to frame 20 posters. These will be selected by a group of 4 artists working in the Pittsburgh community. The remaining posters will be displayed on tables during the benefit event, and will be featured prominently on our website.

Deadline: Let us know if you will participate by June 1, 2010. All work must be received by June 12, 2010.

Framing: We’ll do it for you! Just be sure to get it to us by the deadline.

Medium: Up to you! We look forward to all types of printmaking, digital prints, photographs, etc.

Content: Also up to you, of course! The poster can be designed specifically for this event, can be existing work (sized at 11” x 17”), or you can use your existing imagery to create a poster to promote your work.

The Pittsburgh Art Blog

pittsburgh galleries is reborn anew as The Pittsburgh Art Blog. the blog features selected pittsburgh artists and upcoming exhibits with photos from the artists and galleries. since the major press outlets do not go beyond a directory listing of exhibits, blogs are needed to promote pittsburgh artists and their work. the blog also calls attention to the inferiority complex of pittsburgh art and how it's perpetuated by the major players in town. Started on August 20, 2007.pittsburgh area galleries and art venues are listed at the sister site www.PghGalleries.com.the blog and website are volunteer projects from fine art photographer and pittsburgh art advocate rick byerly, www.RickByerly.com.
