BRIDGE 10 EXHIBITION SERIES
January 30—April 11, 2009

Lectures, Tours, and Classes to Augment Bridge 10 Exhibitions
In conjunction with SCC’s biennial Bridge Exhibition Series, which presents three solo exhibitions, Christina Y. Smith (small metals), Tom Loeser (furniture) and Robert Briscoe (ceramics), that focus on contemporary ideas and follow the artists’ creative journeys as expressed through their work, a range of public programs, tours and classes will take place:

Opening Reception, Friday, January 30 2009, 5:30 - 8 pm

Visiting Artist Talk – Thursday, January 29, 6:30 pm
Studio potter Robert Briscoe will give a talk about process and his life as a studio potter in Harris, Minnesota

EAT: An Art Space About Food January 18—August 29, 2009
The United State of America: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Crappiness
Mixed media installation by glass artist Matt Eskuche features flame-worked glass containers, cans, bottles, and food remains revealing thoughts on consumption, waste, corporate greed and irresponsibility in America.

Gallery Talk—Thursday, March 12, 6:30 pm
Matt Eskuche with Lori Beck, artist and founding member of Ohio Valley Creative Energy Sustainable Arts Center and Christopher L. Weber, environmental engineering professor at CMU, discuss new uses of renewable energy to power art studios and educational centers.
Gallery Tours
Guided tours of the exhibition will be available for school students and groups of six or more visitors. Arrangements should be made in advance by calling Sharon Ellis at 412.261.7003 x 24.

Hollow-Form PMC Pendants – Sunday, February 15, 9 am – 4:30 pm
Students will learn how to make large hollow beads from Precious Metal Clay as well as decorating with PMC syringe and PMC sheet. All levels of students are welcome. Tuition: $100, Materials Fee: $65

One Mellon Center, Satellite Gallery
CenterWorks: The Adirondack III: Transformation/Reinvention January 16—March 1, 2009
Highlighting green design by students from the Center for Turning and Furniture Design at Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Brochures
A brochure accompanies each of the Bridge 10 exhibitions and includes an essay on the individual artist, biographical information and photo-documentation of works in the show. The publications are available at SCC or by calling 412.261.7003 x15.

The Drop-In Studio
Features a free, hands-on activity for all ages developed by an exhibiting artist from the Bridge 10 Exhibition Series.
Funding for Bridge 10 and concurrent programming is provided, in part, by the Allegheny Regional Asset District, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and other generous donors.
