Moxie DaDA is producing a solo exhibition for artist Zachary Brown to premiere at Elan Gallery in Sewickley, October 2011.

The exhibition will run from *October 8 – 28, 2011* with an opening reception, Friday, October 8 from 5-8 PM.

As a figurative painter, Zachary’s artistic subject has always been the human form. In his early studies, Zachary found inspiration through portraiture and connected strongly with iconic & macabre images of religion. After a trip to Italy, his familiar portraits, modeled by friends and family, captured religious saints and religious deities as subjects. His classical technique and imagery of traditional religious art are contrasted with geometric, flat designs used as backgrounds. He uses images and symbols of Christian iconography, comparing and merging religions, Gnostic gospels, hierarchies, angels, fallen angels and countless saints to comment on the human state and fragility.

A recent graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Zachary Brown, produces his first solo exhibition. The exhibition is produced by moxie DaDA in collaboration with Joan Barenbregge of Elan Fine Art Gallery.

"Structure Meets Nature"

Sewickley, PA: January 09. Photographer, Mark Panza will exhibit his latest images at Élan Fine Art Gallery from January 9 through February 20, 2009. Reception Jan. 9 from 6-9 PM.

For Mark Panza the mystery of the human figure, the elements, flora, and modern architecture, are primal inspirations as he captures the world around him. Through the artful use of digital cameras and an Apple computer, he merges these elements into highly personalized imagery. As these separate components begin to converse, new relationships are revealed, and there is an alchemical reaction that Panza finds compelling.

Mark has owned and operated Panza Frame and Gallery in Millvale, PA for over two decades. Utilizing the vast framing materials at his disposal, Panza concocts novel ways of presenting his photos. He masterfully incorporates a panel system that adds a dynamic component to his compositions, leading the viewer’s eye slowly across the image’s surface. In addition, he employs reverse-angled degrees and levels, adding increased dimensionality to his work. These innovative methods become cues for the viewers interpretation.Panza exhibits throughout the Pittsburgh area and his work is in numerous collections nationwide.

Opens at Élan Fine Art Gallery, Sewickley, PA

Artist Reception Saturday April 5, 6 to 9 PM through April 26, 2008

Marjorie Arnett recently retired as Assistant Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Indiana University of Pennsylvania to work full time from her home studio in Leetsdale, PA. Arnett is an interdisciplinary artist, a published playwright and poet. Represented in private and corporate collections she has exhibited throughout the United States and Europe.

If there has been a pattern to Marjorie’s work and life over 40 years of painting, it has been one of Changing Gears, forcing styles to converge and cross pollinate onto the canvas.

In Arnett’s flower paintings one sees the interplay between natural forms and abstract semblances of these forms; from this the appearance of something altogether unexpected dawns.

Other new works are playful, color filled compositions, reflecting the silliness of Dr. Seuss meeting the soberness of Ayn Rand in the parlor for tea. The viewer is often asked to recognize part of oneself as a child in these playful color filled compositions.

The final group of paintings represents Changing Gears toward simplicity and a look toward the future. Large bold shapes speak of a straight forward energy through the placement of color, line and form.

ORDER AND CHAOS, New Paintings by John Yothers

Sewickley, PA February 2008.

Artist John Yothers will exhibit new paintings at Élan Gallery 427 Broad Street, Sewickley, PA. Artist Reception will be held February 23, 6-9 PM. Exhibit continues through March 29, 2008.

Yothers new work ranges from the naturalistic to highly surrealistic. A passionate interest in physics and the chaos and randomness of nature is examined in his surrealist work. Often very intricate and detailed, the pieces ranges in size from small, intimate drawings and watercolors to large oil paintings.

Exhibiting with John will be selected works by sons Adam and Dillon Yothers.

John maintains a studio in Washington, Pennsylvania. A seasoned and accomplished artist, Yothers has competed in many major exhibitions. An educator for many years, John Yothers is currently an Adjunct Professor of Fine Art and Education at Washington and Jefferson College.

His work may be found in several private, collegiate, church, and corporate collections.
