Alabama Civil Rights Video, Message from Jen Saffron

From Jen Saffron:

Last year, you may have attended CONFLICT at SPACE Gallery. This year, I made a video with my Amizade (www.amizade.org) students regarding another kind of conflict: race relations. Please see details below about how to view and vote for this compelling little video - ONLY ONLINE UNTIL FRIDAY AUGUST 15th, 2008! Thank you!

http://www.cinemocracy.org/video/democracy-steady-loving-confrontation This 5-minute short video is part of an upcoming larger video that my students made with me this summer on a civil rights trip to Alabama. We worked in partnership with community non-profits, and learned a ton about our collective history, civil rights, and race.

To "vote" for it by Friday, please click on the stars at the right of the screen, ranking it 1 - 5 stars. Also post to the comment section - there have been some inspiring, contentious, illiterate, and interesting posts.

Note: the students in this course/trip were in production on an amazing two weeks of interviewing about 30 people - original Freedom Riders, those who worked with Dr. King on the bus boycott, and more - stay tuned for a longer piece that expresses more of this experience.
