blog sponsor:

The Pittsburgh Galleries blog is a volunteer effort from Rick Byerly to promote Pittsburgh art events which feature artists from the area. The PghGalleries.com website effort is an up-to-date directory with Pittsburgh area art venues. Thanks go to Sirani Gallery of 5875 Forbes Ave in Squirrel Hill for being a sponsor and David L. Edwards Art and Anonymous for their donations to this effort. Donation and sponsor info can be found here. Rick Byerly, Uniquetake Photography

Check out the flyer and don't miss Friday the 13th at Beleza. Supporting Pittsburgh artists becomes more crucial in times like this.

We take art for granted but if we don't support new work from artists there's no guarantee it will keep coming.

Pittsburgh Artist Update, Ben Kehoe, Masha Vereshchenko

I suggest keeping an eye on Ben Kehoe's Flickr pages as he begins to show his post-medieval period of work which I can't wait to see! He mentioned that the flickr pages will be the most up to date (both agreeing websites are a pain to mantain, but be sure to check his out ).

You may have seen work by artist Masha Vereshchenko around town. Her links are here:
http://www.myspace.com/vereshchenkomasha
http://www.spraygraphic.com/ManageProfile/5312.html
I look forward to seeing more of her art!

When you see or hear the phrase "Wolfman's Got Nards" do you draw blank? Edumacate yourself and pick up an amazing handcrafted work of new monster illustrations and great writing from Unicorn Mountain as well as their other anthologies.

On a final note a late farewell to Jairan Sadeghi who has left Pittsburgh and to point out the Pittsburgh art galleries who really got her started in terms of showing her amazing talent to Pittsburgh. ModernFormations Gallery in Garfield and La Vie Gallery in Lawrenceville stand out in the talent they exhibit. These are galleries which need the support of art fans in terms of purchasing art to continue supporting new work. For those in the know running a Pittsburgh art gallery involves a ton of work and an uncertain future.

Pittsburgh Artist Andy Kehoe Leaving Town

Pittsburgh Artist Andy Kehoe is hitting the road. Sad to hear but I understand in general. Check out his blog where he mentions a new print for sale at his website. I am a proud owner of the print, "Good Thoughts Drift Elsewhere", found here.

Andy Kehoe New Artwork Prints on Website! Pittsburgh Artist, Art, April 2008

Pittsburgh Artist Andy Kehoe has new prints for sale on his website here! I purchased a few prints a couple of weeks ago and his prices work on a tight budget. The quality of the work down to the paper is awesome. You won't see any shows I know of around Pittsburgh with him being featured as his schedule involves NYC and the West Coast so get over to his website!
