PITTSBURGH, PA.- Carnegie Museum of Art’s permanent collection has been bolstered by the acquisition of several significant works of art in line with its collecting strategies. Included in these plans are the purchase of art from and related to the Carnegie International; adding to areas of strength, such as contemporary art, photography, regional art, and art after 1985; and acquiring works of art that contribute to the museum’s exhibition program.

Teresa incorporates visions of science, holistic living, meditation, and dreams to inform her 2 dimensional works.
Teresa writes about her process: "My art process is an attempt to convey time, space, mass, energy, and light: Our perception of length, width, height, time and other planar dimensions after time. Each piece is layered to represent meditation, visions of memory, and the present moment." She explores the creation of the human body from stars that died billions of years ago.

Pittsburgh Artist Update, Ben Kehoe, Masha Vereshchenko
I suggest keeping an eye on Ben Kehoe's Flickr pages as he begins to show his post-medieval period of work which I can't wait to see! He mentioned that the flickr pages will be the most up to date (both agreeing websites are a pain to mantain, but be sure to check his out ).

When you see or hear the phrase "Wolfman's Got Nards" do you draw blank? Edumacate yourself and pick up an amazing handcrafted work of new monster illustrations and great writing from Unicorn Mountain as well as their other anthologies.
On a final note a late farewell to Jairan Sadeghi who has left Pittsburgh and to point out the Pittsburgh art galleries who really got her started in terms of showing her amazing talent to Pittsburgh. ModernFormations Gallery in Garfield and La Vie Gallery in Lawrenceville stand out in the talent they exhibit. These are galleries which need the support of art fans in terms of purchasing art to continue supporting new work. For those in the know running a Pittsburgh art gallery involves a ton of work and an uncertain future.

Schedule for South Side Works Exposed Art and Music Festival July 11,12,13 2008
I'm a market artist at this event and am personally looking forward to all the events! This festival is known for supporting emerging artists trying to make it. The dates for South Side Works Exposed Event 2008 have been set for July 11th, 12th, and 13th of 2008! The hours for the festival are 5pm to 11pm (July 11th), 11am to 11pm (July 12th), and 12pm to 7pm (July 13th).SouthSide Works Exposed is an amazing mix of a music festival, artist market, and sidewalk sales ... but most of all a celebration of art in life. The setting for the event is in and around the Town Square of SouthSide Works.

South Side Works Exposed Festival Looking for Volunteers
The South Side Works Exposed Festival is looking for volunteers! The festival is a non-profit based effort and has activities for all ages. More info about the festival itself here.Volunteers help out by:
Watching the artist's tents while the take a break, get lunch, stretch their feet, etc.
Helping the artist's unload, setup, and generally help them out.
Helping coordinate any 'street artists' we may be using in the artists areas.

5pm to 11pm (Friday July 11th),
11am to 11pm (Sat July 12th),
and 12pm to 7pm (Sunday July 13th).
SouthSide Works Exposed is an amazing mix of a music festival, artist's market, and sidewalk sales ... but most of all a celebration of art in life. The setting for the event is in and around the Town Square of SouthSide Works. Within the music festival you may get to see local, semi-national, national, and cultural performances. Gathered in the Artist's Market 27th Street Strip you will get to see some of Pittsburgh's newest exciting artists, along with some old favorites who have supported the Pittsburgh arts for years. Planned additions this year will be street performers and possible jazz trios within the Artist's Market area. We welcome artists of all medias and persuasions to inquire about applying - whether you are experienced or not. The excitement of new artists is what makes Exposed cutting edge.
