250 Years of Plants: Botanical Works by Regional Photographers is on view June 25 – September 13, 2008. As a visual gift to the city of Pittsburgh on its 250th anniversary, Silver Eye presents new botanical images from sixteen Western Pennsylvania area photographers as well as a few glimpses into historically significant gardens from Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation. Exhibiting photographers include: Sue Abramson, Gayle Bair, Ruthanne F. Bauerle, Mary Jane Bent, Tim Fabian, John A. Fobes, Claudia Giannini, Gerald Hare, Stephen Y. A Must See Exhibit At PCA- Ceramics Show on 2nd Floor

Ceramics Show at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts is a must see!
Well, they're all worth checking out but I have to say that the Regional Student NCECA Ceramics Exhibit is my personal favorite ( bias aside given I'm in the Pittsburgh Through AAP Eyes Show there until March 9, 2008). The ceramics show runs until March 22, 2008.
Also, The Associated Artists of Pittsburgh will have another group show entitled Earth and Fire at PCA from March 14 to April 13, 2008 with a reception on March 20, 2008 from 5:30-8 pm. The exhibit relates to the National Council on Education for Ceramic Arts National Convention in Pittsburgh, NCECA.

Founded in 1945, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts is a non-profit community arts campus that offers arts education and programs and contemporary art exhibitions, providing services and resources for individual artists throughout Western Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh Filmmakers

Founded in 1971, Pittsburgh Filmmakers is a nonprofit corporation designed to encourage the creation and understanding of media for noncommercial artistic and literary purposes. To this end, Filmmakers offers a curriculum of courses in film, video, and photography to university and independent students in the Pittsburgh region. Filmmakers also exhibits the work of prominent photographers and filmmakers in its two galleries, Melwood Screening Room, Regent Square Theater and Harris Theater. A key component of Filmmakers’ mission is to provide equipment access and funding for independent media artists.

Pittsburgh Recast, the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators 10th anniversary exhibit, is designed to reflect the spirit and goals of Pittsburgh 250. The exhibit will assert a unique vision of the course and character of Pittsburgh and bring this vision into the public forum. We intend this exhibit to provide perceptual tools to ignite discussion and reflection, and to inform and educate Pittsburgh about itself.

Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators (PSI) was founded in 1997. We are a future-oriented professional group that sees no limits to the possibilities of the narrative art form of illustration, serving not only all print markets, but the web/interactive, animation, interior design, outdoor exhibit, and collectors' markets as well. We are the fourth largest Society of Illustrators in the United States, with every technique and process eclectically represented. PSI exists to fill the specific needs for an organization with which all Pittsburgh area illustrators and other persons interested in the aims of the society (buyers, gallery directors, educators, etc.) can affiliate. In order to achieve our general aims, PSI undertakes activities such as social gatherings, reception and entertainment of visitors, lectures and discussions, fund-raisers, exhibitions, meetings of professional and related groups, and similar activities. We organize workshops, field trips, and instructional materials to raise professional, student, and patron awareness of the illustration art form.
