Daniel Belardinelli
guilty as charged . . . paintings

Daniel Belardinelli, internationally esteemed outsider artist from New York, returns to CHIZ with exciting new work. He received a warm welcome in Pittsburgh after missing Flight 93 on 9/11/01. Having lost a family member who was on board that day, he continues to feel a deep connection to this area. Daniel and three others who missed the plane were featured on programs on both A&E and The History Channel. In addition to the works in his previous exhibition at CHIZ, his yearly calendar books (a painting a day) were displayed here then. They will now be featured in a story about him, written by Tom Patterson, in the upcoming Fall 2008 Issue of Raw Vision Magazine. His work will also be shown at the Inaugural Outsider Art Fair to be held in Europe (the first ever), which opens May 25th in Vienna, Austria.
Mr. Belardinelli will be happy to answer questions about his work during the evening.

Vanessa German

Vanessa German, a Pittsburgh transplant from Wisconsin, California, and Ohio, has become a much-valued member of our community. As a poet, an actor, a visual artist and teacher, she continues to touch many lives here. Her contributions to Pittsburgh garnered her the 2007 Duquesne Light African-American Leadership Award for Arts, Culture, and Recreation. She has appeared in many regional stage productions and has extensive training in the performing arts. Vanessa is also represented in the 2008 Biennial at the Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh Center for the Arts from May 3 - August 24, 2008. GALLERIE CHIZ has been representing her work since November 2006 and is presenting new sculptures at this exhibit.
