FirstFriday Artwalk doubleheader at morgan glass gallery + PITTSBURGH GLASS CENTER. On May 2, 2008 5:30-9pm gesture & cadence opens with a First Friday Artwalk reception at morgan contemporary glass gallery, 5833 ellsworth avenue, shadyside. The nine-artist exhibition features work that evokes ideas of modulation and movement, capturing and preserving the inherent qualities of the medium.

World-renowned Australian glass artist Ben Edols will be in Pittsburgh to kick off the gallery’s weekend festivities with a glass blowing demonstration at the Pittsburgh Glass Center’s HOT JAM, Friday evening May 2, 7-8 pm. Edols will give a talk and visual presentation Saturday May 3, 11:30 am in the gallery, followed by an artist reception 12-5 pm. Also in the show are Alex Bernstein, Benjamin Cobb, Ben Edols’ wife and partner Kathy Elliott, Marty Kaufman, Jiyong Lee, Jay Macdonell and Orfeo Quagliata.

Additionally, a compelling installation of porcelain gestural objects created by Japanese ceramic artists Mieko&Hiromu Okuda during their recent one-month residency at the Manchester Craftsman’s Guild in Pittsburgh, will be on view and available for sale.
