Kenya’s Displaced
April 2008

Over 350,000 people have been internally displaced in Kenya since the massive outbreak of violence following the widely contested Presidential elections on December 27th, 2007. They have been living in cramped and ill-equipped refugee camps, churches, and with anyone who will offer them shelter and security. With the onset of the rainy season, conditions that were difficult have now become unbearable, but the refugees have no alternative but to wait on a government that has neglected to address their situation.Now that President Mwai Kibake and Prime Minister Raila Odinga have established their power-sharing agreement, there is hope that they will turn their attention to the needs of their people.
