Buy Pittsburgh Art From... Pittsburgh Artists

For an unbiased list of Pittsburgh artists check out the amazing Pittsburgh Artist Registry, maintained by the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council.

And for a very biased, much smaller list check out the Pittsburgh Art Blog's Pittsburgh Artists' List.

Either way, when you buy Pittsburgh art from Pittsburgh artists it makes sense on many levels...

...

The Pittsburgh Art Blog

The Pittsburgh Art Blog features selected pittsburgh artists and upcoming exhibits with photos from the artists and galleries. since the major press outlets do not go beyond a directory listing of exhibits, blogs are needed to promote pittsburgh artists and their work. the blog also calls attention to the inferiority complex of pittsburgh art and how it's perpetuated by the major players in town. Started on August 20,2007. pittsburgh area galleries and art venues are listed at the sister site www.PghGalleries.com.

the blog and website are volunteer projects from fine art photographer and pittsburgh artist advocate rick byerly.

Pittsburgh Artists- Use the Pittsburgh Art blog to your advantage before it's too late!

Pittsburgh Artists- Use the Pittsburgh Art blog to your advantage before it's too late!

I haven't been receiving many submissions in general, let alone Pittsburgh visual artists, which is why I spend time doing this. The majority of the posts from this blog over the last 3 years have been a result of me scouring the internet and fauxbook for info but no more. I need to spend more time promoting my work.

Take action, spread the word before it's too late. Any info you have on new work, projects, upcoming exhibits are welcome for consideration. Make sure to email images or links to them so readers know what kind of work it is.

Pittsburgh Galleries Blog Updates and News April 2008

The Pittsburgh Galleries blog has reached a new high as far as traffic and new visitors! Over the last month it had 3,184 unique visits which included 5,689 page views! And those statistics actually involve real human beings (websites are hit a ton by bots which inflate numbers and website hosts stats are unreliable). Not bad for a blog which was started in August of 2007 and has built traffic mostly via people using google and other search engines. A few weeks ago a reporter from Forbes Magazine called me asking about Pittsburgh art galleries for a story and she found me via this blog which is pretty cool. Also the NCECA Ceramics Convention which came to Pittsburgh in March with over 4,500 visitors brought 1,179 people to this blog for the extensive guides and listings I put online. The goal now is to get people to spread the word and bookmark the blog to keep updated on all the Pittsburgh art events happening. If you know of an art event not listed just shoot me an email, rick@uniquetake.com , with all the info including the full address of venue and an image which will attract more attention.

This is a volunteer effort so donations of any size are welcome which can be made via paypal here . Also at that link anyone interested in purchasing banner space, which includes placement on this blog and websites, can sign up there. Banner design included. I have a google ad on the blog as well as ads on the supplementary website, http://www.pghgalleries.com/ , which lists all Pittsburgh area art galleries and venues. That site gets around 1,400 visits a month. The ads haven't brought in any money because there is a $100 threshhold which I may never get to, we'll see. Thank you to those who have recognized the work I'm putting in and those who have placed links for the blog on their websites and blogs.

Associated Artists of Pittsburgh

http://www.aapgh.org/

With almost 500 member artists, we are the largest visual arts organization in the Pittsburgh region. Almost 100 years ago, we were founded for the same reason we exist today -- to foster an appreciation of visual art among all audiences and to create opportunities for artists to display their work.

Our past membership has included such well-known artists as
Andy Warhol, Samuel Rosenberg, John Kane, Mary Cassatt, Philip Pearlstein and Louise Pershing, just to name a few. We are confident that some of our current members names will become as well-known as their predecessors as we move forward.

The Associated Artists of Pittsburgh places special emphasis on its service to both artists and the community by hosting a wide range of exhibitions, outreach programs and educational forums. We have established this website to keep you informed about these activities, so be sure to check-in regularly.

there's a main list and then by neighborhood, lawrenceville galleries, garfield galleries and many more.

check out the website! http://www.pghgalleries.com and the blog which covers all Pittsburgh art events:

http://pittsburghgalleries.blogspot.com/

call to pittsburgh artists:

to be considered as an addition to this site as an artist: please email smaller images of 5 pieces of work with an artist statement and brief bio, mediums worked in, contact info/address, website/myspace etc, size of work, series and pricing info.

the site will not list artists who lowball their prices in order to sell in volume or those who do not know how to value their work, all of which hurts the art community in general.

email rick(at)uniquetake.com
