BigBot: "You're #1" July 11 - 27, 2008
Pittsburgh deserves a hand. It deserves a giant black and gold hand pointing out all the good around us. This 20 foot sculpture, perched atop the roof of The Andy Warhol Museum is part of Robot 250. BigBot:" You're #1", created by Ian Ingram, is a large-scale, kinetic/robotic sculpture featuring a black and gold sports foam finger imprinted with "You're #1". Ingram's BigBot is one of many located around the city heralding other robotic programming at the various host sites, including The Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, PPG Plaza, and Phipps Conservatory, among others. Created by artists and technologists living and working in Pittsburgh, the program is designed to celebrate art while expanding viewers' perceptions of robots. Maps will be available on the web and in local newspapers providing a "robot trail" for families and visitors to follow from one BigBot to the next. http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~robot250/
